If you would like to submit your own Haikukies, you may leave them on the Town Square Message Board and some day Santiago may actually post them on this page!

Meanwhile, enjoy what some of our talented writers have to offer...

What do you take in your tea?

Welcome to Santiagoville's Garden of Haikukies, a place for quiet meditation on the Santiagoville way of life. Join Alice, the Princess of Tea and Cookies; Jenny the Chief Gardener; and Anji our Haiku Priestess who, along with Santiago, proudly present these splendid meditational works. Sip your tea, read the Haikus, and watch out for the man-eating plants!

ANJI

Santiago has
no cookies, for he is not
a Girl Scout. Amen.

But lo! Alice brought
cookies for Jenny and me.
How I love Alice.

What, a tea party?
It all sounds so very grand.
I'll bring the nachos.

Oh, to be away
and in Santiagoville,
with such good people.

And now, a haiku sequence.

We are Siamese
if you please. But I am not.
I am Italian.

Italian is me.
But any of the vampires
will say, "Don't matter."

I still taste the same,
kind of spicy and smoky,
like barbecued ribs.

So as you can see,
I could be considered quite
delicious. But no.

An ode to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

Turtles on paper.
Heroes on the half-shell, no
more. Donatello?

It's a happy day.
Oh, what joy! Santiago
likes my poetry.

I have never been
given an award before,
in haiku writing.

I will write many
more haikus for the party,
if he wants me to.

If Santiago
eats Belle, the Most High Priestess,
he gets no haikus.

Cinco de Mayo
is a happy time of year.
Blood and Corona!

Or, if you prefer,
margaritas all around.
But no salt--it's bad.

I want to come chat.
But parents said "Sunday night?
No way." I cry now.

I hope Alice has
a fun time in the city,
and comes home safely.

BELLE

This Most High Priestess
shares your sorrow and laments:
No chat for Anji?

You must tell the 'rents
chat parties take precedence
over a school night.

Class gets in the way
when one would rather party
with Santiago.
